About: Lisa Gilchrist

Lisa Gilchrist, Head of Charity Services

Lisa has extensive experience of working with families and individuals across the NHS, Local Authority, Social Care and in the third sector.


Lisa’s previous role was Operations and Engagement Manager for The Healthcare Workers Foundation, which provides hardship grants, counselling, staffroom refurbishments, advice and support to health and social care staff and their families UK wide. 


Prior to that, Lisa was Community Engagement Manager for Wales for 8 years with Leonard Cheshire Disability, managing seven diverse and remote programmes across Wales, as well as setting up their first social enterprise coffee shop in Swansea. 


Whilst working at the YMCA for 11 years, Lisa was manager of Bridgend YMCA and a Trustee of Port Talbot YMCA and Director of YMCA Wales, as well as governor of YMCA Wales Community College, Lisa travelled with Y-Care International to Ukraine and Palestine to undertake study tours of best practice in International work. 


Lisa has also worked at Women’s Aid for 6 years, working with women, children and young people affected by domestic violence and abuse.


Lisa holds an MA in CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling, a BA (Hons) in Youth and Community Education and a BA (Hons) in Psychology.


In addition to working at ACMorgannwg, Lisa has, for 20+ years had her own Counselling Business based in Bridgend. Lisa lives in Port Talbot and in her spare time enjoys, travelling, socialising with friends, reading, gardening, walking on the beach and in the forestry.


Lisa loves all animals (and is very easily distracted by them). Lisa has a large bouncy rescue dog and a tortoise that is almost 80 years old! Lisa’s favourite quotes are; “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is your greatest accomplishment” and “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing”
