50+ Forums
50+ Forums are independent groups made up of people aged 50 and over who come together to discuss the issues that matter most in later life. They provide a welcoming space where older people can share experiences, raise concerns, and help shape conversations that affect their communities.
Forum meetings are designed to be engaging, inclusive, and informative, offering lively discussion on a wide range of topics such as health and social care, transport, housing, benefits, community safety, and wellbeing. Each meeting encourages open debate and the sharing of ideas, ensuring that members’ voices are heard and valued.
A key strength of the 50+ Forums is that members are in control. They help set the agenda, decide which issues to prioritise, and lead on campaigns that reflect the needs and interests of older people locally. Forums also regularly invite guest speakers, including Assembly Members, local councillors, and senior officers from the Local Authority, who attend to explain policies, answer questions, and listen directly to the views of members.
Joining your local Forum gives you the opportunity to take part in meetings, contribute to discussions, and influence positive change in your area. If you prefer, you can also choose to simply stay informed and receive updates by post, so you remain connected in a way that suits you. Whether you want to speak up about an issue, support others in your community, or simply stay informed about what’s happening locally, the 50+ Forums offer a supportive and inclusive environment to get involved.
