About Us

Age Connects Morgannwg is the leading charity working with older people living in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil (the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board footprint). We have a strong history with over 45 years of supporting older people and their families through some of the most difficult times in their life. We also have a proven track record of listening to older people, learning what’s important to them and caring about the way they are treated, perceived, and portrayed.

About the Job

The Connected Communities Programme brings together several of our most vital services, including information and advice, befriending, community engagement, volunteering, and administrative support. This programme forms the foundation for all we do.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Connected Communities Manager, you will lead the strategic and day-to-day delivery of our core services. These are the front doors to our charity and central to our impact across the region.

You’ll:

  • Lead and support a diverse multi-disciplinary team, developing a culture of trust, compassion and high performance.
  • Oversee operational delivery of three core service areas, ensuring outcomes align with funder requirements and internal quality standards.
  • Implement systems and processes to monitor service effectiveness, evidencing impact and supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Champion digital innovation, modernising how advice and information is delivered to ensure accessibility and sustainability.
  • Use data and insight to drive continuous improvement by gathering, analysing and interpreting data from across your programme areas (including case management systems like Charity Log, stakeholder feedback, and service user outcomes).
  • Act as the organisational lead for Advice Quality Standard (AQS), and our case management system (currently CharityLog).
  • Contribute to strategic planning, supporting our Charity Development Lead to secure funding and grow our programmes sustainably.

This is a pivotal leadership role within Age Connects Morgannwg. You’ll be a visible, collaborative leader, empowering staff and volunteers while championing the voice of older people.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who combines strong people leadership with a heart for community impact. You’ll be values-led, systems-savvy, and energised by empowering others.

Success in this role will look like:

  • Delivering results: You ensure each service meets funder targets, runs smoothly, and has clear evidence of positive impact.
  • People-first leadership: You nurture a supportive team culture, where staff feel valued and empowered to make a difference.
  • Collaboration and influence: You build strong partnerships across the sector and represent the charity with credibility and warmth.
  • Empowering volunteers: You champion the vital contribution of volunteers and foster a culture where they thrive.
  • Living our values: You lead with integrity, respect and inclusion, always putting the needs of older people first.

We don’t expect you to have all the answers. But we do expect a commitment to learning, openness to feedback and the courage to lead by example.

Our Culture and Values

At Age Connects Morgannwg, our work is grounded in the values of Listening, Learning, and Caring.

We believe:

  • Older people deserve respect, dignity, and choice
  • Our staff and volunteers are our greatest strength
  • Collaboration is the catalyst for lasting community change
  • Learning and innovation help us grow and improve

We are a supportive, inclusive organisation where every contribution matters. If you share our values and want to shape services that truly make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
