Paula has an BSc in Sociology & Social Policy and has worked in the third sector for over 25 years, predominantly in the mental health field and later in the advice sector, where she also became involved with various social action campaigns during her time with Citizens Advice. Paula also spent some time running her own business, making jewellery and handbags, before her passion for social justice led to her returning to Citizens Advice and later to Chwarae Teg. Whilst with Chwarae Teg, Paula is very proud to have been the co-author of “Gender Equality – a roadmap for Wales”, a report commissioned by the Welsh Government, and published in 2019. She then took a role as Project Manager with Age Connects Cardiff & the Vale, to design and run a new shopping service, before finally continuing her career with us.
Paula lives in Pencoed, has two grown sons, collects buttons, loves sewing and is essentially ruled by her dog ‘Mollie’, a 6-year-old Cocker Spaniel.
One of Paula’s favourite quotes is from Maya Angelou: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour, and some style.”
