Coronavirus Information

What is the Coronavirus?
Coronavirus is a virus that affects your lungs and airways.

The following symptoms may develop in the 14 days after exposure to someone who has Covid-19 infection:
  • Cough
  • High Temperature
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Loss of smell or taste (anosmia)
What is the best way to prevent the spread of Covid-19?
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in a bin. See Catch-Bin-Kill.
  • Frequently clean and disinfect touched objects and surfaces in the home and work environment.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
  • If you are worried about symptoms, please call NHS 111 or go to the NHS 111 Covid-19 website.
  •  Do not go directly to your GP or other healthcare environment.
Please see below for a number of useful information guides:
How to get in touch
We're pleased to announce that our service at the Post Office is back in operation.
  • Opening hours are Monday to Thursday 9:30am – 5:00pm, and Friday 9:30am – 4:30pm by appointment only
  • Appointments can be made by phoning 01443 490650 and choosing Option 1
  • Entrance to the office is at the side door, to the right of the Post Office's main entrance (this is signposted)

  • Anyone making/attending an appointment will be asked to confirm that they are not displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or living with anyone displaying symptoms, as per NHS guidelines
  • A hand-sanitising station is provided but anyone wishing to wear a mask will need to provide their own
  • There is limited waiting space and we ask that you do not arrive too early for appointments, as we may have to ask you to wait outside

How we can help during the self isolation process:
We want to help as many older people get the help and support they need during this difficult time. We will be working with other organisations and community groups to do as much as we can to ensure that isolated older people can still get access to food, essential medication and support to attend essential medical appointments.

We review our services daily following Government guidance so click here for our latest update about how we are supporting older vulnerable people in the community.

If you don’t have any family or neighbourhood support to help you stay well and connected during this time, please get in touch and we will do our very best to find you the support you need. This includes ‘keeping in touch’ telephone calls from our staff, volunteers and other organisations and groups who are keen to help.
STAY ALERT, STAY SAFE
Sadly, at times like this when people are vulnerable, the risk of doorstep crime and telephone scams can increase. You should not give money, your bank or personal details to any cold callers (people you don’t know), even if they appear to be offering to help. Likewise, you should not invite any cold callers into your home or give details out to anyone at the door step, even if they appear to be offering to help you.
